Stone Dowser explores a tool as the extension of the body. The body is defined more than a physical boundary, but recognized as a vessel for awareness.

The ancient practice of dowsing reminds us to walk mindfully on the earth. The psycho/somatic experience of the dowser poses a question: "where does my body end and another begins?" Our answer lies in walking intently to redefine the border of self and other. The individual is asked to walk and listen through the more subtle intelligence of our bodies and expand our awareness into the earth. It is through this center of presence that the individual becomes resonant with what is invisible underground.

As a maker, building an intimate connection with internal and external landscapes is essential to our practice. The dowser is an invitation to make tools to attune ourselves within and without. From this center of wholeness we can be thoughtful in how we leave our footprints in the world.

Making a path through walking. Repetition reveals a mark from the earth. making as a practice that not imposed on material but rather a natural capacity. The performer and the material collaboratively create, blurring the boundary between what is self and what is external to us.

a series of repetitive actions are performed using a singular body part, charcoal and rock sediment on paper. The body moves with the awareness that it is leaving a mark. Our thoughts, emotions, states of consciousness which are usually impermanent, become embedded on paper. The result of such a practice is far from an aesthetic or goal oriented place, but comes from a palpable flow of information in the mind-body medium.
